Simon Fisher Becker, The Actor Best Known For Roles in Doctor Who and Harry Potter Films
In J.K. Rowling’s first installment in the Harry Potter book series, he played the resident ghost of Hufflepuff.
Simon Fisher Becker, a UK-born actor who starred in such shows as Harry Potter and Doctor Who, passed away aged sixty-three.
Fisher-Becker’s death was confirmed by Tony, his husband in a Facebook message from the actor’s account on Sunday.
“Hello everyone. This is Simon’s husband, Tony. I have some really unfortunate news. Simon died this afternoon at around 2:.50. This account will stay active for the next little while. At this moment, I’m not sure if I will post again. Thank you.
“Today, I not only lost a client in Simon Fisher-Becker, but a firm personal friend for the last 15 years,” Kim Barry, the manager, confirmed to the New York Post.
Barry added, “I will always remember the phone call I gave him when he was offered the role of Dorium Maldovar in the BBC’s Doctor Who.” Simon was also an excellent public speaker, raconteur, and writer. He was courteous, gracious, and interested in everyone, and he really helped me out. My sympathies go out to his brother, nieces, nephews, his horde of admirers, and husband Tony.
The cause of death has not yet been revealed.
Fisher-Becker won recognition due to his portrayal of the Fat Friar-the resident ghost of Hufflepuff-in 2001’s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, and the representation of his character, Dorium Maldovar, in three episodes of the cult scifi series Doctor Who.
He also starred in a few episodes of the comedy Puppy Love, had appearances in the TV series Waterside, and was part of the cast for the 2023 suspense thriller Disaster Dates 2.
Fisher-Becker was also a singer in the ensemble for the song “Master of the House” in the 2012 film musical Les Misérables.
He appears in a number of forthcoming productions, including Chris Waitt’s The Director, Richard Summers-Calvert’s Welcome to Paradise, Peter Goundrill’s Humber City: The Rising Tide, and one episode of the comedy-drama Henry House, according to IMDb.
