Rocker David Johansen of the ages who is at struggle with brain tumor and stage 4 cancer has finally passed away at the age of seventy-five.
Legendary rocker David Johansen has died just over a week after posting a video thanking fans for support.
“The 75-year-old was battling stage 4 cancer with a brain tumor, dying at home Friday, said a family spokesman to the Associated Press.
“Hello everyone. I wanted to thank you all for giving us a big boost here with our fundraising campaign, I guess you could call it.” Johansen said from his bed in a video shared in late February. “I’ve never asked for help in my life and lately Mara’s been teaching me the beauty of, when your chips are down, asking for help. That’s what I’m doing and it seems to be working out really marvelously.”
About how serious the medical condition was for Joahnson’s 75 years old father, daughter Leah Hennessey alerted fans not too long ago when she began the Sweet Relief crowd-funding page to pay for costs associated with his care.

“David has been undergoing intensive treatment for Stage 4 cancer for most of the last 10 years,” she wrote. “Five years ago at the start of the pandemic, we found out that David’s cancer had progressed and he had a brain tumor. There have been complications since.”
Hennessey said her father and mother are “generally very private people,” which is why he never spoke about it.
“But we feel compelled to share this now, owing to the increasing financial strain that the family is under,” she wrote. “On top of that, the day after Thanksgiving, David fell down the stairs and broke his back in two places.”
According to her, Johansen has been bedridden ever since surgery, and his “sickness has advanced exponentially.” She said her mother was taking care of him day and night.
Johansen, Billboard.com noted, “had long been a darling on the New York scene, beginning with his time as the lead singer and provocateur of the gender-bending New York Dolls.” It noted that he hosted a show on SiriusXM and that he had several acting credits to his name.
