A Working Man: Grit, Guts, and Retribution
Directed by David Ayer and co-written with action icon Sylvester Stallone, A Working Man is a high-intensity adaptation of the 2014 novel Levon’s Trade by Chuck Dixon. It casts Jason Statham in a role so sure for his intensity that it screams ‘high-octane revenge, tactical combat, and moral recklessness’. Along with David Harbour, Michael Peña, and Jason Flemyng, Statham assembles a cast ready to deliver a visceral thriller steeped in Ayer’s trademark gritty realism.
Premise
The film tells the story of Levon Cade (played by Statham), a mercenary for hire who was originally a marine. His life quickly unravels when a hit from his past reopens a vicious vendetta against him. After a power tussle puts Cade’s family on the list of collateral damage, he throws caution to the wind, abandoning his identity and beginning to tear apart the crime empire out to get him. With combat training and cold-hot precision, he winds his way through a forest of betrayal, corruption, and explosive face-offs all while facing the moral consequences of his bloody trade.
Cast
Jason Statham as Levon Cade: A lethal pragmatist forced to confront his past.
David Harbour as a grizzled ex-military ally with his own demons.
Michael Peña as a tenacious federal agent caught in Cade’s crossfire.
Jason Flemyng in a key antagonistic role.
Behind the Scenes
Ayer (Fury, End of Watch) teams with Stallone to infuse Dixon’s hard-boiled novel with a muscular screenplay, emphasizing psychological depth amid relentless action. Stallone’s involvement—marking his first collaboration with Ayer—hints at the film’s ballicise-carved drama and bone-crunching set pieces.

Why It Matters
