The parents of Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen parted ways in 1996 when the twins were only 9. Later in life, reports suggest David got married again to a former co-worker.
Fathers day was spoken about with Entertainment Weekly in 1996, “The transition has been really smooth. The girls are doing well.”
In 2004, Ashley Olsen would echo this sentiment to PEOPLE, reporting that she and Mary Kate were simply too busy at the time to ****focus on the divorce and thought to themselves that everything would be okay.”

David and Jarnette Olsen have given birth to four children
While David and Jarnette Olsen were together, they gave birth to four children. Their eldest currently is their only son Trent Olsen, born on May 6, 1984, followed by Mary Kate and Ashley, who came into the family on June 13, 1986.

This was when Jarnette Olsen mentioned that she had twins, at which point the agent wanted to see their photos, eventually leading the twins to get an audition for Full House, the twins being only 6 months old.
Neither David nor Jarnette Olsen were stage parents, as no one in their family had any prior experience in Hollywood. Jarnette used to be a ballet dancer and David worked in real estate.
On February 15 1991, David told The Washington Post that he did not want to be bothered by Jarnette showing their daughters’ pictures to a talent agent, saying, “I said, ‘Honey, if you want to do this, fine.'”
