The Rotten Tomatoes rating for “Captain America: Brave New World” is approaching an MCU record

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is starting a new chapter with Captain America: Brave New World. But, it might not be what fans were hoping for. Anthony Mackie’s first time as Captain America has mixed reviews, making Brave New World just another okay film in the series.

The new Captain America movie is on track to break the MCU’s low score record. The Rotten Tomatoes score has dropped to 47% to 46% with over 80 reviews. If it stays this way, Brave New World will be among the MCU’s worst films.

It could tie with Eternals as the second-worst MCU movie. Or, it might even become the lowest-rated film on Rotten Tomatoes. It could also tie with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania at 46%.

But, the overall feedback is not as bad as the score suggests. Critics have praised Harrison Ford’s debut and Mackie’s Captain America. Yet, some have noted editing and pacing issues due to reshoots.

The film seems to be more of a sequel to The Incredible Hulk than another Captain America movie. Julian Roman of MovieWeb gave it a 7 out of 10, saying it’s a good mix of elements.

“Brave New World is a cohesive compilation of the finest elements. The locations of the reshoots are visible. There are certain sequences that don’t completely fit together. But, it’s not a big problem.

“As Ross is held accountable for his previous deeds, Sam embarks on a quest to become Captain America. The terms justice, honour, and truth are not used carelessly. Sam was given his shield by Steve Rogers because he was the most qualified.”

“Captain America” Performs Vital Tasks for the MCU’s Future

Rotten Tomatoes

As the Multiverse Saga ends, Captain America: Brave New World sets the stage for the MCU’s future. It introduces a new Captain America and tackles the Avengers’ current issues. It’s likely to feature familiar faces, but the details are unclear.

Brave New World also prepares for the mutants’ arrival in the MCU. It introduces Adamantium, the unbreakable steel alloy from Wolverine’s skeleton. The movie will likely stay realistic, but there’s a chance for a brief X-Men appearance.
